Thoughts
We have a lot of thoughts, and occaisonally we like to share them, but it's not just about us, we'd love you to join in.
Alcoholic architecture - breathe your booze
17th April 2009You're probably used to obtaining then consuming your alcoholic beverages from a glass right? Finally boffins and forward thinking gastronomes have invented a place where you no longer have to lift vessel to face, sip and swallow - you just inhale them. The Alcoholic Arcitechure as it's known is a 'bar' in London where they fill the air with gin and tonic, and just 40 minutes of breathing in the place will leave you quite merry. It …

Walk on grass wherever you are
14th April 2009David Gallaugher and three other Dalehousie University students have created this lovely little contraption. You don't need me to explain it, it's like a giant hamster wheel for people who love the feel of grass between their toes. Possibly not the most practical of inventions, and I can imagine many a flattened pedestrian in it's wake, but it's a fun idea. (via TreeHugger)

Spectacular YouTube collages
11th April 2009Josh Poehlein has painstakingly produced these collages exclusively from YouTube screen grabs. Currrently the collection is still a work in progress, but he says you can contact him and he'll send you large printable versions for free. What a legend. Here are a sample of two of them, please visit his site to see them all.

Digg Bar shortcut for browsers
3rd April 2009The new Digg Bar is fantastic, I often use Digg, but I seldom contribute. The reason I don't contribute is simple: it's difficult, you have to read the titles and snippets, follow the links (in a new window,) return, then Digg it. The Digg Bar has streamlined that process beautifully, and it seems remarkable that it never existed. The glaringly obvious omission to this great service is a quick-link or browser shortcut. Saying that, I can't imagine …

Wordpress to ExpressionEngine
26th March 2009Matt's site was originally built in Wordpress, but with his needs changing slightly and Expression Engine being more versatile we set about migrating him. He had a whole new design done and then it was just a case of getting all his old data into the new system. Thankfully there's a useful tool for doing that, and the whole process of moving all his data took a (surprisingly) mild 10 minutes or so. The lesson …

New business cards
12th March 2009We recently had some new business cards printed up. They were all handled by Moo.com and we have to say we're very impressed by their service. There is the option to print a different image on the reverse of every single one of your cards, which is fantastic. In fact we feel rather guilty for only using one design, but nevermind they're cheap enough to run a new set through before the guilt becomes unbearable. …

12th March 2009One thing that has long beleaguered the Mac user / business owner is the lack of a decent accounting package. Most of the big (accounting software) guns have refused to support the OS and I'm sure that's made a tidy profit for those companies selling software to run Windows parallel to Mac, but it's cumbersome and long winded. Cloud computing is a term you might not be familiar with, and if not check out the …

16th February 2009I spent some of this afternoon chatting with some NTU students who were filming a digital prospectus for the Multimedia course as part of their third year project. A nice bunch actually who certainly knew their stuff about multimedia. Wil wrote this.

Flash on the iPhone
1st February 2009Like good little creative folk we're (mostly) all Mac users, and ergo iPhone enthusiasts. The one thing the iPhone was missing though was Flash, so important to any web enabled device and therefore conspicuous in it's absence. Not any more though! According to engadget, Flash will soon be supported by the device, which means any argument against it as a web browser are surely diminished - right?! We're all looking forward to watching iPlayer / …
